Spring is finally here, and we’re welcoming this vibrant season of renewal, reinvention, and reconnection with something fresh—the inaugural issue of The Quarterly.
Our artists come from all walks of life, and their collective passions infuse our community with energy. We want to bring that to you. So, each quarter, we’ll give you an exciting inside peek at what’s uplifting them and sparking inspiration—from the local arts and entertainment scene to fashion, beauty, wellness, and more.
By sharing what feeds our artists, we hope you’ll uncover new ways to enrich your life, as well.
Spring fashion celebrates bold color, romantic florals
“I’m loving the energy of floral prints, sheer fabrics, and touches of linen,” says Michaela, a colorist at our Edina salon. “They add a fresh, romantic vibe that pairs perfectly with the easy, lived-in looks I’m drawn to right now.”
“The reawakening of color,” as Wayzata colorist Beth puts it, was also a recurring theme among our JUUT artists.
“Now that our world outside isn’t so dark and dull, everyone wants to bring out the pastels and bold hues,” she says. “I’m totally here for it! Don’t get me wrong, I love an all black outfit, but I also really love playing with bold monochromatic looks and coming up with fun color combinations.”
Francesca, a Saint Paul colorist, agrees. Jewel tones and bright textures are inspiring her fashion choices this spring.
Meanwhile, Scottsdale stylist and colorist, Kayli, is drawn to minimalism. “Black is the new black,” she shares.
Other looks high on our list this season:
- Sustainable fabrics
- Layered necklaces
- Boho style
- Chunky sneakers
- Statement jackets
- White boots
Soft and natural hair, makeup, and nails
The central theme this season: Letting your authentic beauty shine through.
“Healthy skin is the new makeup,” says Roseville esthetician Amanda, who commits to monthly facials as part of her personal self-care routine.
Michaela agrees. “When it comes to makeup, less is more,” she says. “Skip the foundation and try a tinted moisturizer. Add in some bronzing drops for a beautiful glow. A contour is always beautiful but no more harsh lines and angles. Again, bringing it back to a beautiful glow with a nice blush high on the cheek bone. Ta-dah! Your 40 minute makeup session just got cut in half!”
Our artists are also passionate about the ways this trend is manifesting in hairstyles.
“This spring, I’m feeling really inspired by natural texture and effortless styles in hair,” says Casandra, a Roseville stylist and colorist. “There’s something so beautiful about embracing what your hair wants to do and enhancing it in a soft, intentional way.”

Meanwhile, Edina stylist Erin is all about bobs and “making them functional and easy to style.”
Craving color? Think understated.
Calli, a colorist at our Edina salon is enjoying the dimensional pops of blonde and subtle pastel highlights that are showing up this spring. When it comes to nails, Wayzata nail technician Tia is all about buttery yellow nails.
What other trends excite our artists this spring?
- Wispy and curtain bangs
- Pixie cuts
- Functional, easy-to-style bobs
- Loose French braids
- Shimmery eyeshadow
- Cocoa lips
Calming, centering practices taking center stage in self-care
Wayzata massage therapist Kelsey makes meditation with the Insight Timer app a daily practice.
Tia enjoys the benefits of breathwork, too. “I meditate to start my morning. Some quick moments to intentionally breathe and put positive energy into my day,” she says. Also “taking time in the evening to think about what and who I’m thankful for.”
“I’ve been reminding myself and others that rest is productive,” says Casandra. “It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle, but taking time to slow down, recharge, and be present is just as important for growth and creativity. It’s a gentle mindset shift that’s been really grounding for me.”
As Kayli says, “You spend most of your time inside your head, so make it a nice place to be.”
Other wellness practices our artists are embracing:
- Walking
- Yoga
- Ice rolling
- Mouth taping
- Weight training
- Therapy
- Daily affirmations
Ingredients reinvigorating our love of cooking
“Lately, I’ve been cooking with garam masala again,” says Casandra, “and it’s totally reignited my love for being in the kitchen. Just a pinch adds so much depth and warmth to dishes it makes even the simplest meals feel comforting and special. It’s an old favorite that always brings me back to why I love cooking in the first place.”

Tia has also been experimenting in the kitchen. “We just made a coconut cream pie for the first time,” she says, “and it was delicious! I also love a good chicken sandwich with fresh burrata, peaches and balsamic.”
Other ingredients our artists are reaching for this spring:
- Pesto
- Fresh basil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Lemon zest
Music artists on continuous repeat
Are you listening to Doechii? If not, you may want to give her a listen. An American rapper, singer, and songwriter, our artists mentioned her name over and over (and over again).

“I’m loving Doechii right now,” says Casandra. “Her energy is unmatched, and she brings such a unique sound and style to everything she does. She’s bold, creative, and constantly pushing the envelope, which makes her so exciting to watch.”
Who else is captivating our artists?
Erin is listening to Mk.gee and the new Evann Mcintosh. “I’m also listening to Yebba’s Tiny Desk on repeat.”
Meanwhile, Beth asks, “Does the Wicked soundtrack count?” (Absolutely, it does.) “Our Alexa is usually controlled by my kids,” she continues, “and my daughter can’t get enough of Cynthia and Ariana.”
Other musical artists getting play this spring:
- Kevin Gates
- Sza
- Teddy Swims
- Halsey
- Fleetwood Mac (sometimes nothing beats a classic, after all)
Immersive reads for personal growth and escape
Calli recommends the #1 New York Times Bestseller, The Let Them Theory: A Life-Changing Tool That Millions of People Can’t Stop Talking About, by Mel Robbins. And she’s not alone. A number of our artists suggest this title to anyone wanting to nurture greater balance, contentment, and resilience.
The word is clearly making its way through our JUUT salons and spas. Says Tia, “I’ll be starting Let Them!”
If you’re looking for an escape, Amanda suggests, “Anything Sarah J Maas.” (To be clear, that’s not the title—but, quite literally, anything by Sarah Maas.) Beth agrees. Ordinarily a fan of historical fiction, she says the Maas-created multiverse has been a fun change of pace.
Other titles our artist couldn’t put down:
- The Women, by Kristin Hannah
- The Illustrated Man, by Ray Bradbury
- Worthy, by Jamie Kern Lima
- Fun For the Whole Family: A Novel, by Jennifer E. Smith
Remarkable dining experiences right in our backyards
“I recently tried Petite León in Minneapolis,” says Casandra. “It’s not new, but it was new to me, and I was completely blown away. The food was incredible, the flavors were so thoughtful, and the atmosphere had the perfect mix of cozy and cool. Definitely a new favorite.”

Meanwhile, Beth says, “I’m constantly recommending AMA Sushi on 50th and France—I’m obsessed,” and Kayli recommends Blanco to our Scottsdale, Arizona readers.
The other can’t-miss dining spots on our list:
- Minari, Minneapolis
- Billy Sushi, Minneapolis
- Starling, Edina
- Dario, Minneapolis (North Loop)
- Barbette, Minneapolis
- 6Smith, Wayzata
Uplifting messages empowering us to live rich, full lives
Uncertainty and the challenge of trying to balance work, friends, and family, are leaving some of us feeling a little overwhelmed.
Do the people you care about need uplifting? Francesca reminds us that, “People grow when they are loved well. If you want to help others heal, love them without an agenda.”
Kelsey notes it’s so important to be present when it comes to caring for ourselves and those around us. “Everything is temporary;” she says, “good and bad.”
Beth certainly understands the importance of grounding herself in the now. This past year, she shared her breast cancer journey and the ways that experience shaped her view on life with guests. “Time is a gift,” she says. “Do the things you want to do and spend it with those who give you purpose.”
Beth offers this quote that helped her get through her cancer treatment in many ways: “I am the sky. Everything else is just the weather.”
A season to flourish
Across every facet of our lives, we remain open to inspiration wherever it finds us and sharing it with you. We hope The Quarterly sparks ideas that energize you—and empower you to flourish this spring.
