At JUUT, we have always believed beauty is deeply connected to place.
Not just the space we create inside our salons, but the neighborhoods around us. The coffee shops where fuel is grabbed before appointments. The restaurants where we gather after long Saturdays. The small businesses carrying stories, traditions, recipes, artistry, and resilience in the heart of Minnesota every single day. Our home will always be Minneapolis. This is where we Day Make.
Long before JUUT existed as we know it today, its roots were planted in Minneapolis through artistry, wellness, creativity, and community.
That connection still lives in everything we do today. In the way we care for guests. In the businesses we support. In the artists and entrepreneurs who continue making Minneapolis one of the most creative and culturally rich communities in the country.
One of the greatest things about Minneapolis is the collective investment we make in supporting our neighbors and the love for small business.
We wanted to take this moment to share about some of the neighbors our artists love by sharing them with you.
Our Daymaker Joshua, a massage therapist in Roseville wanted to highlight Chimborazo for not only for its incredible food, but for the story behind it. That feels important. So many immigrant-owned businesses carry histories of resilience, reinvention, sacrifice, and hope. When you support them, you are supporting far more than a meal or a product. You are supporting someone’s dream brought to life in a new place.
We also continue to return to Honor Coffee, a space that feels thoughtful in every detail. The atmosphere invites you to slow down. To stay awhile. To savor your coffee instead of rushing through it. In a culture constantly pushing for more speed, places like this remind us there is value in presence.
The same could be said for Colonial Market on Lake Street, a favorite of Marisa, JUUT’s Director of Education, a beloved neighborhood market filled with ingredients and flavors that connect people to home. Fresh tortillas, cheeses, meats, spices, and shelves stocked with the kinds of items that carry culture through generations. Markets like these are deeply important to the identity of a city. They create familiarity, belonging, and connection for entire communities.
Another favorite among our artists is Gai Noi, a restaurant that celebrates the flavors and traditions of Laos while bringing people together around vibrant, shareable dishes. Beyond the incredible food, it represents something we love about Minneapolis: the opportunity to experience cultures, stories, and perspectives from around the world without ever leaving our city.
Even smaller neighborhood gems leave a lasting impact. Maria, one of our nail technicians in Roseville, shared her love for The Golden Nuts in New Brighton. Known for warm hospitality and sweet treats that instantly make people smile, sometimes what makes a business memorable is not just what they sell, but how they make people feel when they walk through the door.
And of course, there is Peace Coffee, which many of our guests already know well because we proudly serve it in all of our salons. Minnesota-owned and rooted in ethical sourcing and sustainability, Peace Coffee has become part of the rhythm of a JUUT visit. A small comfort that helps people settle into themselves.
The beauty industry is often centered around transformation, but at JUUT, we also think about grounding.
Grounding in community. Centering in on values. Investing in the independent businesses that give neighborhoods their heartbeat.
These businesses do far more than serve products. They create gathering spaces. They tell stories. They build bridges between cultures. They make this city richer in every sense of the word.
And we feel incredibly grateful to be part of that story.
