Spring Summer Trend Forecast

March 19, 2019

Authenticity is the name of the spring trend game! With the arrival of a new season this week, we are showcasing our favorite colors, trends, and styles to enhance your individuality and real beauty.

Boost up the volume any way you can and allow your natural texture to be exactly what it wants to be. Bad hair day? No problem. Keep it that way. Less is more! We want to see YOUR natural beauty shine through this spring and summer. Give that next day beach wave a little touch up with Aveda Texture Tonic or rock a little slick down ponytail with a pearl accented barrette.

Attached to that long hair? Don’t worry, it’s so in! In fact, its longer than ever. We are calling this “impossibly long!” Grow it to your waist if you want – now is the time! Instead of over-styling, let it air dry or sleep with a few big braids to give your hair some texture the next day. Finally, we are seeing pixies all over fashion week but this year they are choppy and extra short. The top is heavy but still textured. Rather than getting weight removed, ask your stylist for a thicker, chopped pixie and load up on Aveda Control Paste or Aveda Men’s Thickening Paste.

Last, but most important – BANGS! Add a bang to your bob or long hair that can be worn in any way you want: split down the middle, swept to one side, flipped to a side with some texture, or, if you’ve got curls, go bold and add those curly bangs paired with some shaggy layers!”

There are lots of options this season in all lengths of hair for men.   From buzz cuts (both short and long) to the messy man bob, and everything in between.  Modernize the standard shorter sides and back / longer top with some vibrant color and texture.  Don’t be afraid to make any length and style appear like you just rolled out of bed.   If you have any kind of curl or wave, let it do its thing!  Have you always wanted really long hair?  Like past your shoulders?  Do it!  Now is the time.

The bright Rainbow jewel tones from this fall will transition into spring’s bold reds. Think 90’s. My guests will be channeling both Claire Diane’s and Ginger Spice this season. Living Coral, the Pantone color of the year, is the perfect example of this. It is dominating hair and makeup trends in 2019!

Colorful hair is on the air… but in a more subdued way. Marc Jacobs featured 37 models, for his spring 2019 show: they all walked the runway with different s

hades of pastel hair. This “anti-unicorn” movement, featured beautiful vintage looking metallic lived-in color.  My favorite pastel of this season appears here almost apricot. I see this as soft coral meets peachy rose. Consider this, spring’s play on rose gold and/or the “blorange” trend we’ve seen past seasons.

The runways are gearing up for sunshine and summertime with the fresh trends from straw sun hats to flowing head to toe pastels. This season is all about dressing to impress Hamptons style. Don’t be afraid to whip out anything from your Mamas beach bummin’ days. Beige linen pants, shell earrings, and oversized sets are all the rage.

Crazy 8(0’s) neon biker shorts or a vintage boiler suit shoved in the back of your closet from an old costume? Yeah – bust em’ out. These fun playful pieces are great to elevate what you’ve already been working with from fall season. Pair with a black oversized blazer, flat form sneakers and statement bag- you’ll have the New York street style blogger look down pat.
