Learning the story behind Daymaking and why owner David Wagner feels so passionately about his company’s culture is impactful to both stylists and clients at Juut. Kelly Pavek, hair director and senior stylist in the Woodbury Lakes location, says the positivity at Juut has made her aware of how she shows up and interacts not just with guests, but with anybody in her life. “I treat each person in a way that lifts them up in an understanding way and try to take into account their background and life experiences as well,” she says. Pavek says a good example…
Jen Gackle, master esthetician and massage therapist, puts no parameters on Daymaking. Whether she’s in the salon, at home, or out and about, being a Daymaker is who she is—not just a part of her work life. “The people who work at Juut are there because it comes from their souls,” she says. “We live and breathe it, so it becomes a part of you.” In the six years she has worked at Juut, Gackle has made many Daymaking memories with clients and co-workers that she cherishes. But she says it’s the consciousness of knowing and participating as a…
Heather Dietiker, master stylist, has shaved clients’ heads three different times in her almost 10 years at Juut.  “I do it after they get a cancer diagnosis,” she says. “And a few years later when I get them back for their first haircut, it’s the most amazing feeling in the world—every time.” Dietiker herself had skin cancer, and while she says she has no comparison for what some of her clients have gone through, she has received that dreaded phone call. “They need someone strong who can empathize with their situation,” she says. “I pull up as much strength…
Stephanie Domrose, master stylist and makeup artist in Juut’s Wayzata location, has a client who comes in every six months for a haircut. The cut is basic and simple for Domrose to execute, and the guest has been wearing the same style for years. Recently, Domrose shared some of her personal ambitions to be a life coach and empower women through beauty with her client. “Her response was shocking to me,” Domrose says. “She told me the hour-long conversations we had every six months had changed her life.” It started with a book recommendation and sharing experiences from her…
Andi Tarte’s career at Juut began almost 30 years ago as a color director when the salon was called Horst and Friends and owned by Horst Rechelbacher. When the salon was sold to David Wagner, Tarte happily became part of the Juut family.  In her current role as director of education, Tarte focuses on teaching employees to be Daymakers for each other, in turn, allowing them to be Daymakers for their guests. “When I think about how to guide them, I think about where it all starts—with David and Charlie Wagner,” she says. “The intention of love is such…
For Leah Patrick, master stylist, connecting with clients is her favorite way to be a Daymaker. While she has had countless meaningful moments with clients and co-workers in her 11 years at Juut, a couple stand out as true examples of Daymaking. “I have one guest I met years ago when she came in for a sanctuary cut after being diagnosed with cancer,” she says. The client has stuck with Patrick for years, but life hasn’t been easy for this particular guest—she has endured two major surgeries in addition to cancer treatment. “She doesn’t come that often, but she…
“I had a client who came to me every two weeks for three years,” says Robbie Jacobs, master stylist at Juut in Edina. “She had really short hair that was only a half-inch to inch long.” Every week the client came in, she told Jacobs she was unhappy with the cut. “She kept saying it wasn’t working for her, and that we had to get it right,” Jacobs remembers. “She was very particular, and I could tell she had been to every hairdresser in town by the time she saw me.” Frustrated, Jacobs tried texturizing and any other technique…
After graduating high school, Maria Aleman-Aguirre knew what she wanted to do with her life, so she enrolled in the Aveda Institute. After she graduated, she was hired at Juut, where she polished her technical skills and learned all about being a Daymaker. “When I joined the beauty industry in cosmetology school, I realized right away that it was more than just learning to cut hair,” Aleman-Aguirre says. “I donated 12 inches of my hair while I was still in school.” With her passion for helping people, Juut was a natural fit for Aleman-Aguirre, and two and a half…
In her 10 years at Juut’s Palo Alto location, Tara Morrow, master stylist, says she experiences Daymaking every day. “Whether it’s from clients or co-workers, I go into Juut each day and am just overwhelmed by the Daymaking spirit,” she says. “I’ve gone through a lot of growing pains in the past decade from my early 20s to my early 30s,” she adds. “I’ve experienced depression, anxiety, loss of loved ones and getting married. My boss, Rocio, never blinked an eye at being supportive—I was allowed the space and support to grow up from girl to woman.” Morrow always…
Three years into her career at Juut, hair director and master colorist Lindsey Yozamp was working at the downtown location when she decided to pop downstairs into the mall on her break. “It was the holiday season, and I stopped into Cole Haan with my purse full of holiday gratuity cash,” she explains. “I set my purse down to look at some shoes and when I turned around, it was gone, along with a couple weeks worth of gratuity money.” Shaken, Yozamp returned to the salon to see her next client, where her co-workers quickly realized something was wrong…
